Chiropractic Care for a healthy spine creates a health body

What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic is a natural method of health care with the proven ability to relieve back pain, increase vitality, and promote well-being. For over a century, doctors of chiropractic have successfully helped millions of individuals recover from spine-related health problems. As a result, chiropractic has earned its place as the largest drugless and non-surgical health care profession in the United States.

How does Chiropractic Work?

The human body possesses a natural ability to restore itself. This ability depends on a healthy nervous system. Life's events such as automobile accidents, sports injuries, repetitive work, and home stress are just some of the factors that can overwhelm the body's ability to adapt. The joints of the spine 'lock up' when these sorts of events occur, limiting range of motion. Spinal joint restriction and/or misalignment results in irritation and/or pressure at the spinal nerve. Chiropractic care may correct these structural distortions, known as subluxations, restoring the body to its optimal form and function.

Five factors may lead to a vertebral subluxation complex:

  • Bone Factor
    • The vertebra can have a variety of issues. Some include: not moving properly, going through degeneration, and/or out of its appropriate position.
    • Due to the nerves that pass between the spaces of the bone, these boney issues can lead to a narrowing of the spaces between the bone, and end up irritating or impinging the nerve itself.
  • Nerve Factor
    • When a nerve is aggravated, the normal flow of signals along the nerve fibers is distorted.
    • If this is not addressed, it could lead to conditions affecting other organ systems.
  • Muscular Factor
    • Muscles are an essential part of holding the vertebra in place. Thus, they are also considered a very important part of the vertebral subluxations complex.
    • Muscles affect the vertebral subluxations complex and vice versa.
    • A vicious cycle is born when subluxations irritate a nerve which can lead the muscle to spasm. The vertebras are pulled and pushed out of place by the spasmed muscles. This leads to a further irritation of the nerve.
    • This is the reason that both the spine and the muscles must be addressed.
  • Soft Tissue Factor
    • The vertebral subluxations complex also affects the surrounding tissues: tendons, ligaments, and blood supply.
    • If the problem is not addressed in a timely manner, the soft tissues may over stretch, or scar. This leaves the spine with restrictions or permanent instability.
  • Chemical Factor
    • The vertebral subluxations complex changes the chemistry of the body
    • Usually, the class of chemicals released is called a, “kinin.” These chemicals are pro inflammatory. Therefore, the affected area ends up becoming even more inflamed.

When these factors are not addressed, they get progressively worst. If they are not properly treated, it could lead to arthritis, inflammation, chronic pain, trigger points, bone spurs, loss of movement as well as muscle spam. More and more research is proving that these subluxations have on the body. Chiropractors care is ideal to detect, locate, and correct the vertebral subluxations complex.

The Benefits of Chiropractic Care?

The benefits of chiropractic care have also been shown to extend beyond reduction of back and neck pain. In fact, chiropractic has proven itself as useful in the reduction of headache pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, jaw pain, sciatica, and tingling in the arms and legs. The rewards of chiropractic care are numerous. People under chiropractic care report better health and well-being and many families have realized the benefits of chiropractic care for their children.
